We'll be attempting to help you fix this until it's either fixed, or you've had enough and decide to revert. It was an entirely different beast than the 32bit version, so things don't work the same. I can't believe I didn't realize something like that until it was pointed out, but at least it's out there now. Should there be any errors from the program itself, use the command prompt and copy the error to display it here. Neither are some crazy maxed-out settings.

As this only occurs when I play Dota 2, and not other steam games / other games generally, I figure it must be a problem with Dota 2 interacting with something If there's too many for that, then I'd try a Reset with the Keep My Files option in order to fix them. Try to update drivers and make sure everything's properly installed in your Device Manager is all that I can think of right now. A lot of incompatibilities show up with updates - and some are even fixed by updates. I also ran that command and now certain Windows apps won't launch, such as calculator. I NEVER experienced a steam related BSOD in 14 years of usage and I had different hardware. just crash like any other program does oh but no, it has to be a complete pain in the rear...but because I have purchased items from the store I am stuck

Originally this file shouldn't be packed with the game as Terraria should create this file automatically on launch if it is missing or out of date. You can copy it as a file and I can use the windows debugger to look at it and see what windows thinks the problem is. Most of the time I manage to play with no problem but sometimes it crashes in the first 2 mins of playing. Try running the game again.
