Once out I connect a Seagate Slim Drive which immediately shows up. When I turn on the enclosures power switch I see an icon in the taskbar and when I hover the mouse pointer over it it says 'Safely remove hardware and eject I didn't try assigning letters and all that crap as I didn't want to be transfer stuff off my hard drive to wipe it clean. I've now got 2 external drives (from different companies, different ages etc) that are not even seen by windoze. I am connecting to a brand new sony laptop that has windows 7. As for the external drive, when I turn it on I get the icon in the taskbar for Safely Remove....Thanks. Like I said, I'm not testing the steps myself right now, so something may not work.

- Let's select the disk number that represents our USB drive (just substitute the disk number with the respective one showing up on your screen): select disk 1 and then select the partition.
- Plug It Into a Different USB Port: Try unplugging the external drive and plugging it into a different USB port on your computer.

Flash drives and media like that are usually limited to one partition unless the device is changed to appear as a hard drive.

When I right in the pop up window I get file system as NTFS, but your screenshot above shows FAT32. If your external hard drive is more than 2TB it is probably formatted in GPT instead of standard MBR, which cannot be read by 32bit Operating Systems such as WIndows XP. Did the Diskpart check: 1. I need to be able to recover the information on the drive. But there is another problem with external disc with its power supply. all of them with Windows 7, both 32 and 64 bits. Thanks for taking time to post and help others to solve this kind of issues,I have the same problem here.
