It affects all file copies performed in the Windows Explorer or even with the simple CMD line "COPY". He was trying to copy some files on his computer and ended up getting this odd error message: Can't read from the source file or disk. Ask ! This program can back up to hard disks, DVDs/CDs and network drives.

There are many such programs around, both commercial and free. Windows 7 is extremely slow at those operations. The problem maybe is caused by USB3 drivers, but i cant be sure about that.

Uncheck that 3/ Go to Advanced... Note that this also affects ANY application using standard file I/O (because I/O caches are enabled by default everywhere). To sort out Windows Explorer issues, try copying your files in the Far Manager. Unstoppable Copier then seriously suspect a really faulty cable.

In this case, you should scan the hard drive using a tool like chkdsk. If you want to monitor the hard drive usage, you can run Windows Resource Monitor. As such, it's best to refresh your backup every now and then, to keep it up-to-date, so that when you have to restore, you won't lose too much work.
