I use win 7 for home recording and I don't trust microsoft with automatic updates that can't be turned off. Who uses the Start Menu anyways?File associations...context menu...taskbar...desktop shortcuts...all pretty much make the Start Menu a "vestigial tail" that my Grandparents don't even use......and if you don't "game"...why are you even A leap forward in remote desktop and remote app capability.
