I appreciate any help. After a day, or so, the 3 XP machines lose connection to the win 7 machine completely (untill i reboot the win 7 machine), not just the shared folders. It still fails at night, but at least in the day when most classes are up the problems on the server end are minimized.I reinstalled all the lab computers and they Logging off and logging on again is also unsuccessful.The only way to get access to the shared drives is to  restart the PC. Hope it works for you. We recently switched from Cox Cable internet to AT&T U-Verse, and I've started noticing that my internet connection will randomly go out when I am connected. Found I had to do that to allow for network rendering (well, when the system didn't "forget" how to connect!). Curiously, when the server loses connection, restarting (no power cycle) fixes the problem.
