December 5, 2009 Trine Curtis I have been able to get my printer recognized across all my Win 7 and XP machines. The IOmega would not copy thru USB (why's that?) and no firewire on new HP Win 7 machine. One is never sure if you are changing an existing name or entering a new name. At forst that was not enaf and i still got the error, but i runed network setup wizard and who-al-a, i can connect to xp machine and its shares.
In the System Properties window, go to the Computer Name tab and check the workgroup to which the computer belongs. I'll do it on my other laptops too! I work with networks for a living and I was convinced there was a bug until I decided to look elsewhere. You do not have permission to access \\laptop.
